Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and technically proficient Foundation Phase Lead Coach to develop players aged 8-12 years in line with our “Possession with Intensity” philosophy. This crucial role involves implementing our comprehensive academy curriculum focusing on fundamental technical skills, basic positional understanding, and fostering a love for possession football while instilling our core values of Excellence, Integrity, Community, Development, and Faith.
Key Responsibilities
Training & Match Coaching
- Design and deliver age-appropriate training sessions in line with our academy curriculum
- Implement foundation-level technical development with emphasis on ball mastery and
comfort in possession - Introduce basic Juego de Posición (Positional Play) principles through enjoyable activities
- Coach weekend matches focusing on development over results
- Create supportive learning environments that encourage creativity and decision-making
- Adapt coaching approaches for Basic, Premium, and Elite package players
Player Development & Assessment
- Implement our four-pillar development approach (Technical, Tactical, Physical, Psychological)
- Conduct regular player evaluations according to package schedules
- Create and monitor Individual Development Plans for all players
- Identify and nurture individual strengths while addressing development areas
- Track technical progress through our comprehensive metrics system
- Support character development aligned with academy values
- Provide constructive feedback to players to encourage growth mindset
Administrative & Communication
- Maintain accurate digital records of player attendance and performance
- Provide timely feedback to parents regarding player development
- Document training sessions and match performances in our academy system
- Collaborate with other academy coaches and Technical Director
- Support talent identification and phase progression processes
- Maintain professional standards of organization and communication
- Use digital platforms to streamline administrative responsibilities
Qualifications & Experience
- CAF C License or equivalent coaching qualification (minimum)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience coaching youth players aged 6-12
- Understanding of long-term player development principles
- Proven ability to create engaging sessions for young players
- Experience using technology for player development tracking (preferred)
- Knowledge of child safeguarding principles and best practices
- Strong communication skills with children and parents
- Proficient English and Swahili communication abilities
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of fundamental football techniques
- Knowledge of age-appropriate training methodologies
- Basic understanding of Positional Play principles
- Ability to adapt complex concepts to child-friendly activities
- Competence with digital tools for player development tracking
- Understanding of physical literacy and movement fundamentals
- Knowledge of growth and maturation considerations

- Expected to work across various package levels and groups within the Foundation Phase
